Last Christmas I was given by my husband a beautiful bag, Yves Saint Laurent Kate. I’ve been wanting it for a long time and admiring it for years, so the gift was just right.
In fact, I find it the perfect bag for going out, but also for all the moments when we want something more feminine than the usual “carry-on” bag!
The Saint Laurent Kate bag is a proven classic among YSL bags.
It has a simple, elegant shape and an easy-to-wear style, and it’s easy to see why it is, year after year, one of the most popular and best-selling Saint Laurent bags.
Features of the Saint Laurent Kate bag
The bag features the classic YSL initials woven on the front and a magnetic snap closure.
The interior consists of a single compartment. It has a small pocket on the back, which can be used to store cards or some cash.
It features a chain strap that is not adjustable and cannot be removed, but you can safely hide the chain inside, using the bag as a gorgeous evening clutch.
Personally, though, I would find that a real shame! In fact, the golden shoulder strap is one of the most beautiful and distinctive elements of this fabulous YSL bag!

It features the YSL logo and a gold chain tassel, which is a wonderful detail in my opinion.
This version features an embossed “crocodile leather” effect in a neutral shade, that can best be described as a light, very chic shade of taupe or dark beige, which I find very elegant.
The Saint Laurent Kate bag is available in many variations, such as with or without the tassel. If you purchase the model with the tassel, this is not removable.

The Saint Laurent Kate bag is currently available in 2 sizes.
I own the medium size , which I find perfect for nights out or days when you only carry the necessities (phone, wallet, glasses, keys).
Personally, I recommend the medium size because it is much more practical, relatively roomy for evenings or more formal occasions.

A bag to invest in
For me, it’s definitely one of the best designer bags to invest in.
For starters, it is a fabulously designed bag. Also, it is more moderately priced compared to other brands and brands of the same level.
But most importantly, it’s “the” chic bag for any evening outfit and beyond. You can even wear it with jeans and a black blazer and it makes for an instant evening look. It’s so elegant!
Although the YSL Kate bag comes in a range of different leathers and materials, the crocodile print version like mine and the embossed grained leather version are the ones I would recommend purchasing.
They are durable, easy to clean, and as a result, hold up well to the passage of time.
Pattern and size make it a luxury bag that can be used for both day and night.
Also, if like me you love shoulder bags for their elegance and sleek effect, the Saint Laurent Kate bag is just perfect.
So yes, it is definitely worth it to me.
MATERIALS AND LEATHERS OF THE SAINT LAURENT KATE BAG
The YSL Kate bag is available in a range of different leathers and materials.
For example, the classic Saint Laurent embossed calfskin, the crocodile print leather as in my version, but also suede and exotic leathers.
In terms of hardware options, the Saint Laurent Kate bag is available with silver, gold or black hardware.
Personally, the black hardware comes off as a bit somber once worn, so it’s a choice to consider well on an investment bag like the Saint Laurent Kate.
Is the tassel removable YSL Kate bag?
No, it is not removable, but you also have the option to purchase this YSL bag with or without the tassel.
Of course it goes by taste, but I personally love it and find it gives a special character to this model!
