What to Wear in Summer: White Linen and Jeans

When I created the Practical Course in Style and Wardrobe Management, I started with the real challenges that I myself experienced – and partly still experience – when it comes to dressing. So, among the advice given there there is also the recommendation to take new (style) roads at least once in a while, to discover new facets of our individual style. Of course, in the course I propose strategies and practical “exercises” to do it, and so I decided to try it too. A few weeks ago, therefore, I entered a recently opened shop close to my office and tried a lot of things. In the end, I bought four of them, including the white linen top you see in these photos.

All four pieces purchased, which I will show you in the coming weeks, are quite different from my usual style, but still matching with many pieces that I already have in my closet.

White linen, in particular, is a very summery fabric and also very suitable for high temperatures. Nevertheless, I find that it is not so easy to wear (on me, it tends to add volume…) and, honestly, I appreciate the famous charm of wrinkled linen only up to a certain point …

So I thought to introduce it in small doses in some of my summer outfits, in the form of this top made of raw white linen. The volume added by the empire cut is compensated by the elongated V-neckline, which visually elongates the upper body. The washed skinny jeans contrasts nicely with the whiteness of white linen and the skinny shape counterbalance the wide cut of the top.
