Caring for oneself, both in terms of physical and mental well-being, is vital. And in these times, finding comfort and relaxation in cozy women’s lounge wear can be an essential part of that self-care routine.
For me, it starts with making the bed every morning, a straightforward act that sets a positive tone for the day.
For others, their daily routine may involve paying special attention to their attire, even if only their family sees it, or maybe just for their own satisfaction.
Most importantly, it’s important to be comfortable when navigating slow and relaxed days that still require our attention on multiple fronts.
As the ancient Romans understood, how we feel on the outside can significantly impact how we feel on the inside. It truly does matter.
So in this post, I aim to share some ideas on this subject, along with a small “gallery” of stylish outfits suitable for home wear.
These are my personal thoughts on the matter, but, of course, you’re free to have your unique perspective!
#1 Dress as You Like
These days, I’ve heard a wide range of opinions about various aspects of self-isolation due to the Coronavirus at home.
For some, even washing and combing your hair is seen as unnecessary. Others limit themselves to subtle criticisms of those who dare to wear a bit of lip gloss or mascara.
Some people proudly flaunt their “natural” look, often in an obvious way.
Personally, as someone who keeps things simple, I avoid passing judgment on what others do. I’ve decided to stop apologizing or making excuses for applying minimal makeup in the morning.
Typically, I change out of my pajamas, take a shower, and put on something different from what I wear to sleep, even if it’s just a pair of leggings and a T-shirt.
I do this because I’ve realized that these ten minutes of “effort” help me approach the day with a different level of energy.
So, I invite you to do the same: dress in a way that makes you comfortable for your home activities, but most importantly, that makes you feel better emotionally and psychologically.
#2 Dress According to What You Have to Do
While we’re all following the #stayathome rule, our daily activities vary. Some of us are working and need to look presentable from the waist up for Skype or Zoom meetings.
Others are focusing on home and cooking, some are engaging in physical activity, and some are simply relaxing.
Consider your daily tasks when choosing your outfit. For instance, getting dressed for morning physical activity can help you overcome any laziness barriers. It’s all about adapting to what you need to do during the day.
#3 If Dressing Up a Little Makes You Feel Good, Do It
In the current age of social media, you’ll find an abundance of gym outfits, fashionable joggers paired with cute tops, and trendy sweatshirts.
However, if you’re accustomed to dressing as if you’re heading out for a regular day (excluding shoes, a coat, and a bag), consider doing the same at home.
There’s no compelling reason to confine yourself to just leggings or pajamas while staying at home.
Opt for lounge wear crafted from comfortable and soft materials for a cozy yet stylish appearance. Elevate your lounge wear game and feel good even at home.
#4 Incorporate Trends into Your Lounge Wear
Even when you’re not in the public eye, it can be enjoyable and uplifting for your spirit to infuse a trendy flair into your home outfits. In short, have fun with fashion just like you normally would!
At the moment, there are two “strong” trends you can easily embrace with what you already have.
First, the new “jogger” sweatpants with trendy waistbands, as seen in the examples below. Second, the “athleisure” style, which combines gym attire, even adorned with sports logos, with everyday urban pieces.

#5 Experiment with Monochromatic Outfits
If tracksuit-inspired outfits seem too sporty or unkempt for your liking, try wearing a single color from head to toe.
This simple adjustment immediately adds style, elegance, and chicness to your look, even if it’s joggers and a sweatshirt.

#6 Add a Personal Touch
Here’s a delightful and playful trick to enhance super sporty and comfy looks. Consider adding a statement jewelry piece, a light and colorful scarf, or a vibrant lipstick. These details can transform your outfit.
#7 Prioritize Comfortable and Soft Materials
Regardless of your chosen “style” for staying at home, whether it’s classic, athletic, or comfortable and trendy with joggers or leggings, the key differentiator is the materials.
Opt for soft, stretchy fabrics, especially for your tighter-fitting garments. Choose breathable fabrics made from natural fibers that are easy to wash and iron. Don’t forget to wear comfortable shoes or slippers to complete your look.
#8 Pay Attention to Grooming
Even if your outfit looks relaxed, taking care of your hair and ensuring a well-moisturized face, along with a touch of makeup if you prefer, can dramatically change your appearance.
A plain grey sweatshirt, for example, can instantly become cool with a little grooming.
#9 Shop Smart or Declutter Your Wardrobe
During these times, it’s wise not to splurge, considering the practical difficulties of shopping, even online.
Instead of buying new items, have some fun decluttering your wardrobe, starting with your jumpsuits, pajamas, and home clothes.
Get creative with your sportswear by mixing and matching in new ways to create stylish home outfits. Your technical gym leggings, paired with trendy sneakers and a simple black top, can make for a fabulous home outfit.

Thank you for your advice to only wear comfortable and soft materials. I’ve been thinking about trying to wear more loungewear now that I work from home. I’ll be sure to keep this advice in mind when looking at my options.
