How to choose the ideal women’s watch?
Over time, our approach to choosing the perfect watch has changed a great deal.
Once upon a time, it was an object that would accompany us for a lifetime, that would perhaps remain the only one we owned.
Today, instead, we often tend to differentiate. Maybe, for some important milestone in our lives – graduation, wedding, anniversaries or “round” birthdays – we have been given the precious and classic watch.
But then life changes, and tastes and lifestyle needs change as well. And we’d like to have a few more options: a more casual watch for everyday, or even for traveling. Or, a fashionable watch with a design that matches our tastes.
Therefore, in this post you find a simple guide to choosing the right watch for you. Which does not necessarily have to cost a capital. The options, in fact, are many and beautiful even in the medium price range.
That’s the case with this men’s chronograph watch from Scandinavian brand Nordgreen, which I think is simply gorgeous!
Simple and clean in design, it’s an option that fits in with so many styles and will inevitably draw many admiring looks and comments, as it did for me!
But what are the criteria for choosing the ideal women’s watch?
1. Go for a classy watch design, regardless of your budget
I’m not just saying this because my preferences go to somewhat minimalist design objects, but mostly for practical reasons.
Especially if you intend to use the watch every day and don’t want to spend a lot of money, in fact, the best option is definitely a chic and elegantly designed minimalist watch.

Not only does it fit all styles and is currently all the rage, but the simplicity and purity of its design, as in many other things, inevitably results in more elegance and class. In short, it will make your watch look more precious and luxurious.

In addition, it can be worn in any situation or event and fits any outfit.
2. Opt for a quality watch
The elements that determine the quality of a watch, besides of course the gear, are basically three:
- Case
- Glass
- Strap
With regard to each individual aspect, there are of course many considerations to be made. So, I refer you to this very detailed guide that I found online.
As for the materials, also from personal experience I am convinced that plastic materials and even rubber should be left out. Not only do they reveal their lower quality over time, but they also give the watch a less elegant and classy appearance.
For the strap, in particular, I absolutely recommend leather or metal, depending on your taste.

3. Choose the right size
When it comes to choosing the right size of a women’s watch, there’s one thing to keep in mind: your proportions.
Proportions are indeed the key to choosing a watch that suits your style and softens your wrist, making it look elegant.
Often, in the case of women’s watches, the rule of contrasts works very well. So, if you have an elegant and thin wrist, try to contrast it by choosing a watch a little large, the classic “boys size” found in many lines, which resembles the size of men’s watches, but remains a little smaller.
A larger watch, in fact, will emphasize the beautiful line of a slim wrist.
Vice versa, if you have a larger wrist, try to match a smaller and thinner watch: it will have an chic, feminine effect.
As a general rule, for women’s watches it is always best to select watches with dial diameters between 25mm and 4mm at most.
4. Choose a women’s watch with the movement you prefer

There are watches with very different types of movements. But in general, all of them fall into these categories
- mechanical
- quartz
- automatic
The best way to find out if a watch has a quartz, mechanical and automatic movement is to look at the second hand.
Mechanical watches have a smooth and linear movement. In contrast, the second hand of quartz watches produces a sharper movement, once per second.
Deciding whether to buy a watch with quartz or mechanical movement is entirely up to you.
5. Consider your budget
Of course, there are lots of watch brands, in many different price ranges.
Personally, I don’t recommend buying super cheap watches made of plastic materials, even though they may be going crazy thanks to clever marketing strategies on social media. They will always leave you disappointed and, once on your wrist, they will still have a decidedly cheap look.
Much better, instead, to choose with your heart, according to your tastes. There are plenty of great watches that are not too expansive, last a lifetime and have a classy and timeless design, but are also of excellent quality.
Remember that a beautiful women’s wristwatch that will reflect your personality and can enhance and complement your style without having to splurge, price-wise.
For all these reasons, I really like Nordgreen watches, which combine a minimalist and classy design with premium materials.

Despite their decidedly luxurious and chic appearance, the prices are definitely reasonable for a quality item. If you’d like to read a full review, you can find it here.
What kind of watch are you looking for?”
Never be afraid to inquire! In fact, it’s the research that makes the difference between a hasty and inevitably disappointing purchase and a purchase done right and, above all, perfect for you.
